To tell you the truth...
My dad preached tonight at Providence PBC in Bay Springs, MS, which is a little over an hour away from Jackson. Our whole Pyles/Bruce gang went, and we dragged Lacey along with us for our personal amusement and general good cheer.
In the lunchroom, an oldah sistah with a thick, drawly Mississippi accent sidled up to my husband and introduced herself. She was all warmth and big smiles, very hospitable. But by way of introductory chit-chat, she inadvertently (I hope) said one of the funniest things I've ever heard in a church lunchroom:
(Please read this with a thick south Mississippi drawl.)
"It's so good to have you here! You know, Sistah Lynn hasn't been here since she was a child... and we are SO GLAD!"
hmmm.

I'm SO glad I didn't hear it with my own ears, because I'd probably have laughed WAY too loud if I'd have heard it! I do agree...that has to be one of the funniest things ever said in a church lunch room! "...and we are SO glad!"...hahaha!
